In 4 visionary steps...
1987-1993 At the basis of client/server
After 5 years of IT experience at Janssen Pharmaceutica, Manu Goossens started up GnOsiS in 1987 with a couple of ex-collegues. GnOsiS taught Flemish companies how to use IT to obtain a strategic advantage. GnOsiS’ own software, SequeLink, gave pc’s access to SQL-databases on server systems. With this software GnOsiS was co-founder of the client/server-architecture. This fact didn’t stay unnoticed. In 1993 Intersolv bought GnOsiS for 80 mio$.
1993-1998 IT as a strategic advantage
One of the first users of SequeLink was Marc Haenebalcke, at that time IS Manager at Abelag Aviation. Manu and Marc founded Thinknology in 1993, an IT-consultancy company. In this company Manu would put his vision on strategic IT into practise. The mission of Thinknology was "excellence in strategic IT solutions" or "how IT can make a company more profitable". One of the senior developers was Rudi Mariman, who gained many years of experience at Sidmar and General Electric Power Controls.
1998-2002 IT as a part of the consultancy world
One of Thinknology’s clients was Deloitte & Touche. In 1998 Deloitte & Touche proposed to integrate both companies. Thinknology was bought by Deloitte & Touche. Manu and Marc expanded the activities of the IT department with IT consultancy, software development and competention centres around Siebel (CRM), Navision and SAP (ERP). In 1999 Jessica Van de Vijver joined the IT department as HR responsible. In these turbulent HR-years, she made the IT department grow from 10 to 50 people.
2002-nu 4D vision, an own vision for the 21st century
In 2002 Manu, Marc, Rudi and Jessica realised that entrepreneurship was too important to them to stay in a big company. In april 2002 the four of them founded 4D vision, a small company built on their own vision and values, with the expertise of the big 5. The goal is to develop an IT-services company based on respect, trust, knowledge and selfdevelopment. A company in which clients and co-workers are central.
